I have seen a sad sight on my travels recently. On more than one occasion I have seen a dead bird on the road. These birds were obviously hit by passing vehicles. Think about that for a minute. These birds can fly over and light on 99% of all they survey, and yet by choice they fly over the remaining 1 % and pay the price of their life.
As I have seen this unfortunate spectacle, I have been reminded of we humans. The first people on earth ( Adam and Eve) were plagued by a poor choice and we have been paying for their choice ever since.
As I get older, I know why so many older people are jaded. They have seen kids raised in the best of circumstances make poor choices and ruin their lives. Choices that they were warned against, to no avail. They have seen friends with the same outcomes.
We could even look at the wider view and see where our country is today. Most reading this probably have a relationship with Christ or certainly believe in God. I feel our countries flying to close to the road moment was taking prayer out of the schools. Think about it. Is our country better off now then it was in the early 60’s? I know many of you have no clue as you weren’t around then. So I will answer for you, NO ! Crime, out of wedlock pregnancy, or just a general consideration for others is way down from where it was. At great risk of starting to play the “ well in my day” card, I will still state that we are not what we used to be.
Let me close with some good news. I sense a growing awareness of this. More people are waking up to that fact ! Politically, we are seeing a new awareness that we still have a constitution and a right to vote. Personally, we see movies and commercials encouraging us to play it forward , etc. So my friends, you don’t have to fly to close to the road. Claim the 99% of your life that will be a benefit. From a health, mental, and emotional standpoint, CLAIM IT ! Till next time
