For those of you that have been following my blog, you note that I have not had an entry in a few weeks. I have been on vacation! Thus today’s article will be about the importance of vacations. Perhaps more importantly we are writing today about the importance of picking up your
routines when you get back from vacation.
I have been in private practice for 31 years. I didn’t take my first vacation of over 2 days until the 10th year of practice. Since that time, I have taken more time off but rarely more than 3 working days in a row. It is not till the last 5 years that I have planned vacations of a weeks duration. Boy what a blessing that has been , for me and for my patients.
I came back with a renewed excitement for what I do. I am blessed in that I have a job that keeps me interested. However, even the most interesting job has its negative moments. So, time off is always a good idea.
Which leads me to getting back to work. It is widely stated that when you go on vacation you should leave your work behind. I am all for that. I have noticed though, that work thoughts will come to mind from time to time. As they coome I have put these thoughts on paper. I do not dwell on them, but if another thought comes to expound on that thought, I also note it. What this does is gets me in an attack mode when I return. I did not do this on the last vacation ( Spring Training with the Astros, I saw them win!!!! ) and this late post is part of the reflection of that.
But I am relaxed ! Till next time.
